Look at what we can do as a community…
We have been collecting donations for several charities and causes for at least 10 years and we have never known a time when our community has responded in such a proactive and kind way. The time, energy and thoughtfulness of students, parents and staff has been inspiring and matches the scale of the humanitarian disaster that is unfolding in Ukraine. A committed group of parents has enabled us to achieve something very special over the past four days; a van and five cars dropped off all the very generous donations that will be on their way to the Polish-Ukraine border by this evening. This would have been impossible without the support of the parent community. Thank you so much.
Yet it is worth remembering that as a community we organised a collection for refugees in Calais before half term and those donations will also be delivered next week. We are also donating items to other local charities and supporting Emmaus and our local Red Cross with profits from our charity shop. We clearly need to keep going and to this end a parent committee will be set up to help the School’s charity committees to develop our activities. Ukraine will be an important part of this but not the only focus. It is important that other worthy causes are supported and have airtime in the weeks and months ahead.
