A Visit from Beauville Arts

On Wednesday this week we were pleased to welcome Jonathan Mallalieu and his team from Beauville Arts to lead a Musical Theatre workshop with some of our Year 9 students.

Beauville Arts run Musical Theatre courses in English during the school holidays at a range of venues in the south of France and in Germany. Each course teams young people with professionals from the performing arts industry to produce a musical show in a professional venue by the end of the week.

In a short but intense two hour period on Wednesday pupils were really put through their paces by the Beauville team in their James Bond 007 workshop.

The pupils, a little reluctant at the beginning, responded enthusiastically and were really focused on the task at hand, whether it be singing, acting or choreography. It was such a pleasure to see so many smiling faces doing something new and outside their normal routines.  Taking part in workshops like this helps students to develop so many transferable skills that will serve them well in the future.

The Beauville Arts venture has been running for 20 years now and BSP students have joined their courses regularly throughout that entire time.

Some comments from the pupils involved:

“It was a very fun yet learning experience on how to produce musical theatre, in which my own skills of dancing and acting were enhanced.” – James Bond (alias Rayaed, 9H)

“I loved doing the workshop on Wednesday, it was fun, exciting, and I don’t know a single person who didn’t enjoy themselves!” – Blofeld (alias Liam, 9H)
