Zigi Shipper – Holocaust survivor

Zigi Shipper is no ordinary person because he has an extraordinary heart. A heart that has an absence of bitterness despite the horrors of his early years. Zigi was a refugee in 1946, one of 750 orphans allowed into Britain. He is incredibly proud to be British and he has certainly added to Britain’s history, not that this should be a requirement for entry.

We would like to thank Zigi’s daughter, Michelle, who recounted her father’s life under German occupation and to Zigi himself, of course, for his thoughtful Q&A session with BSP students, staff, parents and Governors last Friday.

Zigi is also one of the seven survivors of the Holocaust whose portraits, commissioned by The Prince of Wales, went on public display at The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace, this week.
