Viking Day in Year 4

On Wednesday the Vikings returned to Croissy-Sur-Seine! With their wonderful costumes and hand-made shields, Year 4 had a fantastic day exploring Viking life and crafts. This included warrior training, weaving and brooch making before having a great – and very competitive time – exploring Viking games. The children loved exploring the different crafts and worked hard throughout the day to make the most of every opportunity, as you can see from what they had to say:

Zahra: “The warrior training was great fun! We went to the hall and practised fighting with our swords and shields. We got to feel what it would be like to be a real Viking.”

Laura: “The whole day was really fun.  I liked the weaving but it was hard to imagine having to do that for all of my clothes. The game of Kubs was great when we got to knock down the other team’s blocks.”

Aaron: “My favourite part was making the foil brooches. We had to really concentrate and take a lot of time but it paid off. I feel really proud of the brooch that I made.”

Luka: “The practice fighting was the best! I think that I would have been a good sword fighter. It was good to use my shield – I really liked making it.”

Andrea-Marie: “I loved it when we played the wooden throwing game outside. This was my favourite part of the day because it was fun and my team won. I
also enjoyed learning about Viking boats in French.”

Junwoo: “I liked the tug of war because it felt easy to start with… but then I
was partnered with Ben and he was really strong, which kept me busy!”

Benny: “My favourite part of Viking Day was the weaving because it was fun and
really relaxing and also because I can take it home once I have finished.”
