Bridges in Year 7

In Design & Technology this week, Year 7s were learning how to build bridges out of paper and card. Their challenge was to create a bridge spanning a gap of 60cm and capable of withstanding a load – the test being how much weight it could hold up.  Divided into groups and with House points up for grabs Year 7s competitive instincts were quickly evident… and the final tally of points placed the Houses as follows:
1st Porthos
2nd D’Artagnan
3rd Aramis

Porthos, as overall winners, managed a cumulative weight  of 2.8kg for all their bridges – two holding 700g which was the single maximum weight maintained by any bridge in the challenge. Congratulations to everyone who took part in this fun learning activity.
