Egyptian Day
The Year 3 children and teachers came to school dressed in costume and kohl eyeliner to celebrate learning about the Ancient Egyptian civilisation.
They took part in many creative activities in a whirlwind action-packed day. They learned how to dance like an Egyptian and prepared for their afterlife by modelling clay amulets with magical powers. They re-enacted Howard Carter entering Tutankhamen’s tomb and developed historical questioning skills by considering artefacts they dug out of the sand. They also pretended they were Ancient Egyptian embalmers by creating their own mummified figurines. Later, they will finish this part by carefully designing a sarcophagus to encase their figurine.
We all rounded the day off with a feast of Ancient Egyptian foods, which in spite of being over 5000 years old, were still delicious!
