Researching Information, Fake news and Misinformation
As part of our work on Internet Safety Mrs Carralon has made a webpage on Frog with information about the Coronavirus.
With all the fake news and misinformation surrounding the Coronavirus it is important that children read information from trusted sources, such as The World Health Organisation.
We now have an ‘infodemic’ which is an overabundance of information and not all of it is accurate. That makes it difficult for all of us to find out what is true and what is not.
Last week, we shared a book with children to help them understand information about the virus, it has been illustrated by Axel Scheffler and is suitable for 5-9 year olds. There is a version in French and English.
Key Stage 2 children were also given a ‘Digital Literacy Task’ to do which was introduced with this video made by some of the KS2 teachers and teaching assistants.
They were then asked to create a quiz, film or poster about how you can catch the Coronavirus and how you can protect yourself. They produced some excellent work and it has been posted on to the Coronavirus page on Frog.
