Indoor Cricket

Last weekend the committed members of Cricket Club got to play their first games of the season and first ever indoor match in BSP history.

They travelled to The British School in The Netherlands, a school whose cricket programme is growing fast due to the general progress of cricket in the Netherlands.

Friday’s matches were extremely tight. The BSP narrowly lost their first game by 7 runs but came back fighting to win their second game in extraordinary fashion.

After being run out on the second to last ball and therefore being deducted 5 runs, it came down to our captain, and if we were to win, he had to hit a 6! So with the last ball, he slogged it high over the fielders’ heads to smash the far wall and secure victory… and the crowds went wild! It was an amazing experience for all the players and a real team effort.

Saturday’s matches were not quite as close but our team learnt a lot from the experience and we identified our strengths and weaknesses when competing. We are a strong bowling side but will continue to work on improving our communication and fielding skills.
