Tudor Day in Year 5

Year 5, dressed in Tudor costumes, took part in many different activities to learn about Tudor life.

Some of the most popular workshops were crafts: Sara enjoyed making a leather bookmark with a pattern using a hammer and a nail, Zara liked learning how to make soap, and Peter and Youssef enjoyed the candle-making because you could see the candle growing every time you dipped the string into the wax, and “the hot wax smelled like honey.”

In the afternoon, a banquet was served. The Lord and Lady, along with their guests, were served typical Tudor food by their servitors. Other groups of children took on the role of jesters, actors, singers and dancers to provide the entertainment.

The day was a wonderful learning experience for the children and really brought the Tudor times to life.
