Meat Free Mondays at the BSP

Last Monday was the first of many ‘Meat Free Mondays’ at the BSP! This decision was taken following a school survey which indicated that 79 % of the people who replied were pro giving up meat once a week and a further consultation process which involved a student council vote.

The three main reasons we are part of the ‘Meat free Monday’ campaign are:

  • Reducing gas emissions – a cow releases 70 to 120 Kg of methane (greenhouse gas) per year
  • Health – studies have shown that eating too much processed food and red meat contributes to an increased risk of heart disease and cancer
  • Animal welfare – too often profit comes before welfare and natural habitats can be denied to animals – just think about the life of a battery chicken…

With the support of our head chef and his team, we are delighted to now be joining this popular campaign.

We would like to thank all the people involved in this project for their support.
