Year 1 Outing to Peuple de l’Herbe
As part of our Mini-beast Topic Year 1 crawled to the “Peuple de l’Herbe”…
We spent the first part of the day in a workshop entitled ‘Music made by Insects’ and discovered fascinating facts about insects, the music they make and how they make it. Did you know that, for most insects, it is the males that do all of the singing? Perhaps we should join their chorus so, Daddies, perhaps you could start practising your singing!
After the workshop we went to meet lots more insects and even got to handle everyone’s favourite, the stick insects, which crawled up our arms, or was it a stick? We weren’t sure as they were so well camouflaged!
Then our favourite part of the day was having our picnic before putting on our scientists’ hats and scurrying around hunting the area for our own mini-beasts, armed with a magnifying glass, a brush to sweep up the mini-beasts and the collecting pot to put them in. It was an insectastic day!
