Reception Outing to the Forest
Reception children had a wonderful day at the ‘École de la Campagne et de la Forêt’ this week.
We started off the morning with a mini-beast hunt in the forest. We found some centipedes, slugs, a spider, woodlouse and then a huge stag beetle. We had to carefully place the mini-beasts in the specimen jars and quickly put the lids on to make sure they didn’t escape. After lunch we had the opportunity to do an observational drawing of the stag beetle.
Then we went out in the rain to look for some signs of animal life. We were excited to jump in the muddle puddles. On one of the trees there were some signs that a boar had been scratching as it had left some hair behind. We found some feathers from a tawny owl and saw lots of signs that a fox had been having a long walk in the forest.
