Year 3 Outing to Croissy-sur-Seine

Year 3 went on an utterly amazing field trip to Croissy-sur-Seine!
They used science knowledge to note local flora and think about pollination and seed dispersal, they used geography skills to read their maps to follow the route and then labelled features on the map. They practised French language skills by translating the types of shops into English and also when purchasing their snack at the boulangerie. They also used maths skills when paying for their tasty treats by choosing the correct coins and checking to make sure that they had received the correct change.

In Croissy town center we mixed maths and human geography to make a frequency table and tally chart based on a 5 minute traffic survey. We then arrived at Parc Chanorier and were given a guided tour of both the art and history museums there. Though small, they were both fascinating and we learned a lot about our local history and more about The Impressionist painters and local cartoonist Albert Robida.
After a picnic lunch, the children enjoyed some playtime exploring the gardens at St. Leonard’s Chapel. Finally, we were fortunate to also visit the Chateau to see the current Lego exhibit featuring models depicting scenes from some of Aesop’s Fables. It was then time to embark upon the long walk back along the river path.

What an adventurous day!
