Model United Nations Conference in The Hague

Years 10 to 13 students who attend the Model United Nations club on Wednesdays after school spent a very interesting and exciting week at the THIMUN (The Hague International Model United Nations) conference. THIMUN is a five-day simulation of the United Nations for secondary school students, which takes place at the end of January each year in the World Forum Convention Center in The Hague. THIMUN now attracts over 3,200 students and teachers from around 200 schools located in countries as far apart as Norway, Australia, China and Ecuador. The students themselves originate from more than 100 different countries.

The students all shared their enthusiasm for the conference, one of them stating: ‘I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. To see thousands of delegates from all over the world come to The Hague and debate so passionately about issues that affect our world is an experience that lasts a lifetime. It also restores my faith in humanity to know that there are people who still care about our world and who are passionate about creating a better tomorrow for everyone. This conference has really opened my eyes to the real world and I am so happy I went on this trip.’
