Year 3 Trip to Château de Breteuil
As part of their literacy topic on ‘Fairy Tales’, the French department and the Year 3 class teachers took the very lucky Year 3 pupils to the Château de Breteuil.
During their guided visit of the Château the children listened to many stories and anecdotes.
They saw portraits of French kings, different rooms and different periods in history. It was fascinating to meet Marie-Antoinette, Louis XVIII or King Edward VII. We saw that the chair that Louis XVIII used had wheels as he was too fat to move around! We saw many old fashioned objects and decorations such as quilts, tapestries, chandeliers…
After lunch, the children had fun getting lost in a maze and seeing beautiful sceneries of famous fairy tales. They heard the stories of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Puss in Boots and many more.
Their fantastic day ended with a dance and a French song telling the story of Little Red Riding Hood.
