Lunchbox Speaker – Mrs Noreen Riols, SOE
In 1943 Noreen Riols, aged 18, joined the Special Operations Executive (SOE) which had been set up by Winston Churchill to “set Europe ablaze”. Her role was to help train agents who were sent into France to aid the resistance movement and to make life difficult for the Nazi occupiers.
Today she re-told her story to History and French students at the BSP. Noreen is modest, funny and deeply passionate about telling the story of the brave “young men and women who gave their lives so we might live in freedom today”. Students were absolutely transported to a different era thanks to Noreen’s unbelievable ability to paint a vivid picture of the war years.
Thank you so much to Mrs Riols for sharing her story with the BSP community; we are truly privileged.
