Remembrance Events
The 8th November 2017 marked the 100th anniversary of the end of the Battle of Passchendaele. A battle that cost in the region of 700,000 casualties on all sides. This anniversary was very much the focus of the Year 9 Battlefields Trip this week to La Somme and Ypres. The Year 9s also led Friday morning’s Remembrance event in our Poppy and Bleuet garden; they read thoughts, letters and poems from those who took part in the Great War. Many thanks to our readers and to all those who attended.
For the month of November, students will be able to make a ceramic Poppy, Bleuet or Forget-me-not which will be added to our Remembrance garden. Students can also make a paper Poppy or Bleuet and place it on a memorial board in the Library.
