Child Safeguarding – Inset Days

You are not alone if you sometimes wonder what an Inset Day actually is and what it is used for at School. Well, generally these days are put to very good use and are set aside to review, train and update knowledge across the teaching and administrative staff. Good practice is shared and discussed with an aim to improving standards and the overall performance of the School.

This week all staff, both administrative and academic, attended half a day of intensive child safeguarding training. An expert consultant from the UK guided staff through updated government advice on how to recognise and sensitively deal with safeguarding issues. We discussed procedural,  pastoral and personal responses as well as sharing the lessons learned from several important case studies. This type of training, whilst harrowing and difficult to hear at times, is essential so that we are all equipped with the knowledge to spot and deal with such cases if necessary.

Additionally, staff covered training about steps to take should an intruder enter the premises. Once again reminders of alarms, procedures and case studies were reviewed to ensure that staff are all as informed as possible.
