The theme for Environment Week this year was ‘Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For our Future’. Students took part in several exciting events including interactive workshops in Geography looking at the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. There was an excellent House Debate on whether fossil fuels should be banned, which was won by Porthos.
On Tuesday, a thought-provoking assembly led by Mr Arun Kumar Ethirajilu, who is a Principal Process Engineer (Consultant) for Total Energies E&P Iraq, thoroughly engaged the Year 7 and Year 8 students.
Other events included a House Upcycling Contest, an Environment Week House Quiz and an ‘Inspired by Nature’ Cake Bake Competition and sale with proceeds going to the Year 9 environmental charity ELLSA. Many students and staff also took part in the Green Travel to School Day. The Eco-Reps worked hard to help organise all the events.
Throughout the week, students learnt about the impacts of fossil fuels and the possibilities offered by renewable energies. A total of 223 euros were raised for ELLSA from the Cake Sale and Wear Green to School Day.
