The U18 girls’ football team kicked off their season with a fantastic 2-1 victory over The American School of Paris on Thursday evening. This is the first time that the BSP senior girls’ team has beaten their American counterparts. It was a deserved victory, with the team dominating large parts of the game and creating many chances to score.
At half-time the score was 0-0 but it was only a matter of time before we scored. Sure enough, early into the second half, a perfect low cross resulted in a shot that landed into the bottom corner of the goal to give the BSP a one goal lead.
Several minutes later, a free kick on the edge of the box gave our captain the perfect opportunity to pass the ball to our resident Paris-Saint-Germain player, who smashed the ball into the net to make it 2-0.
The ASP changed formation to put some stronger players up front, which resulted in a period of intense pressure for the BSP defence. However, despite ASP clawing back one goal, the BSP defence held firm to help secure this prized victory. As well as having several established players with us again this year, it was also fantastic to include several new members in the squad, all of whom enjoyed game time and were also instrumental in the victory.
Well done to the girls, and we look forward to the trip to Rome next week to take on Marymount International School.
