Junior Academic Programme Overview

Foundation Stages 1 & 2: age 3 – 5

The School follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, part of the British curriculum guidance. This means that learning is carefully planned based on organised play and child initiated activities that encourage exploration and self expression.
Our aim is to develop confident, happy children who are eager to learn and to share their experiences in a safe and secure environment.

Key Stage 1: age 5 – 7

At Key Stage 1 work is founded on the National Curriculum for England and Wales. The further development of the basic skills in literacy and numeracy are taught through activities and practical involvement leading to the acquisition of the key concepts. The overall curriculum is broad and balanced to serve the children well for future learning. Individual needs are assessed in an effort to exploit each child’s full potential academically, physically, emotionally and socially.

Key Stage 2: age 7 – 11

At Key Stage 2 the National Curriculum is still used as the basis for our schemes of work. The overall curriculum is broad and balanced to serve the children well for future learning. Individual needs are assessed in an effort to exploit each child’s full potential academically, physically, emotionally and socially.

French Language

All pupils have French lessons every day. The children are placed according to their experience of the language in the most appropriate learning group across each year. The pupils are perfectly placed to enrich their knowledge by exploiting the learning opportunities offered by their everyday surroundings and by their native speaking teachers.
