Dr Reh shone considerable light on the process, the arguments and the uncertain future. It is a subject that has divided not only the country but age groups, families and geographical areas. In this respect her talk provided little comfort for the future as she highlighted the challenges and tough decisions that will need to be made in the coming 18 months. Yet in spite of the looming dark clouds there was certainly a buzz of more informed chat as students left the talk. Fake news, alternative facts and false promises had been replaced by reasoned discussion.
For those who are politically minded Brexit and Mr Trump are two topics that are guaranteed to create a reaction. We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Dr Christine Reh, a lecturer in European Politics and Programme Director of the MSc in European Public Policy at University College London (UCL) as our guest Lunchbox Seminar speaker. Given that Christine holds a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute in Florence, an MA in European Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges and an MA in English Literature, Linguistics and Politics from the University of Trier she is very well placed to inform us about the facts and fallout from Brexit and duly delivered a very enlightening talk.
