French Language Programme 
 

During the daily French lesson, the children are placed according to their experience in the language in one of the three or four groups across their year group. The members of staff teaching this subject are all native speakers.

Smaller children in key stage 1 learn the French language through:

  • oral communication
  • games, songs, rhymes
  • introduction to reading in Year 2

Children aged 7 to 11 years in key stage 2 focus on learning the French language through:

  • oral communication through role-plays and dialogues
  • reinforcement in reading and writing
  • special programmes for advanced/bilingual groups
