Helping you to find your feet
The British School of Paris maintains the Area Welcome Organisation through the Area Welcome Co-ordinator based at the school. The organisation provides help to families from the moment they register with the school till they leave on their next international assignment. Area Welcome Reps are volunteer parents of pupils of the BSP, who have lived in France for a while. Their aim is give you information and advice about the area in which you live and to introduce you to other families in your locality.
The service is organised geographically so there is an Area Welcome Rep for each commune where there are BSP families. Some of the larger communes have two Area Welcome Reps and some of the smaller communes are grouped together.
Your Area Welcome Rep will be able to give you information on local doctors, dentists, hospitals, orthodontists, vets, shops etc. in your area. They will also be able to give you details on clubs and organisations for both young and 'old' including sports, dance, French lessons and conversation groups; in fact all the things that are of concern to you when moving to a foreign country. They will also be a friendly ear on the end of a telephone! All this, we hope, will make your stay at the British School of Paris a happy and fulfilling experience for all the family.
Your Area Welcome Rep will call you soon after you arrive here but you may not hear from her until September if you move during the summer holidays. Please feel free to contact the Area Welcome Co-ordinator if this is the case.
Whilst trying to get in touch with all new arrivals, a few families slip through the net due to internet or phone connections being disrupted during your move. If you have not been contacted directly then please telephone your Area Welcome Rep. There is a complete list of Area Welcome Reps in the School's Telephone Directory or you can contact the co-ordinator direct for details.
If you would like more information then please do not hesitate in contacting the Area Representative Co-ordinator, Glenda Banyard at: glenda.banyard@britishschool.fr
