Welcome to the British School of Paris

The British School of Paris is a non-selective co-educational school which provides British education of a high quality to an international student clientele.  Founded in 1954 as a centre of holistic education for a British ex-pat community, it has developed over the years into a truly international School with students of over 50 nationalities on roll.

Following the fine traditions of independent schools in the UK, the BSP has adopted a philosophy of education which unlocks the potential of all students by identifying strengths and supporting areas of development, while having fun and enjoying strong relationships.  The British School of Paris’ academic programme is largely based on the English National Curriculum adapted to the special circumstances of the international clientele.  The School embraces the challenges of modern education and provides for a high degree of flexibility within its well-balanced curriculum.

The BSP is a high achieving school in the context of British and international fee-paying education, with tailored provision for educational support for children who experience learning difficulties.  It is in the culture of the school for all children to aim high.

Situated in Croissy sur Seine, the BSP is only a short RER ride from the centre of Paris, on a most beautiful stretch of the Seine.  Being a school for children aged 3-18 the BSP has two campuses, one for the Junior School which is situated in the impressionist town of Bougival and the main site, the Senior School, for students aged 11-18 in Croissy sur Seine.

The pastoral system, which supports the students’ learning and the academic life as a whole, is a strong one.  The students are integrated in their year-groups, which are each divided into small tutor groups, the number of which is dependent on the size of the year-group in any one year.  The tutor takes an overview of every individual child’s progress in all areas and provides the direct link between the School and the parents.  The head of year, who is at the helm of the year group, coordinates the activities in each tutor group and provides cohesion within the year group.

Being a holistic educator the BSP has a strong extra-curricular base with a special focus on music and drama as well as a large variety of sports.  BSP students regularly compete at the International Schools Sports Tournament (ISST) and consistently perform well.

Catering for an international clientele the BSP is more than a school – it is the centre for the community which it serves.  The School fosters good relationships between students, staff and parents.  The British School of Paris Society (Parents’ Association) connects parents, friends and former pupils, through various social events.

The School strives to build strength in mind and body in all members of the community, Validus, Corpore, Animoque being the sub-text in its logo.

The BSP is a proud member of:

  • IAPS (Independent Association of Preparatory Schools)
  • NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools)
  • Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference (HMC)
