Careers Guidance 
 

The BSP helps students with their career selection by providing support and information to help them make informed decisions about subject selection, university entrance and career choice.

Year 11 students are offered:

  • A full Careers Guidance Programme
  • ISCO Futurewise / Morrisby Testing
  • Interpretation of Futurewise Profile
  • Follow up Careers Interviews

In Year 12 the BSP provides:

  • Year 12 Induction – Expanding Horizons 1.
  • Careers Festival/Gap Year Fair. This is held towards the end of September.
  • A series of talks covering different Careers related topics.
  • ISCO Futurewise Careers Progress Interviews (Late November) .
  • Using Futurewise to build up the student’s C.V.
  • Helping suitable students with Headstart Applications
  • The University Road Show – A Group of Representatives of British Universities visit our school.
  • Visits from representatives from other universities.
  • Information Talks about Oxford and Cambridge.
  • Work Experience.
  • A visit to a typical "good" British university for the whole Year group.
  • UCAS Days – Students are taken through the UCAS application procedure, which is online and is called APPLY.
  • Careers Insight Courses.

During the final year of schooling at the BSP, students are encouraged to participate in:

  • Year 13 Induction – Expanding Horizons 2. This takes place before the start of the Autumn Term.
  • Careers Festival/Gap Year Fair. This is held towards the end of September.
  • Visit to Oxford and Cambridge universities for suitable applicants. This will take place during a weekend, mid-September.
  • A series of talks covering different Careers related topics.
  • Mock Interviews for prospective university students.
  • ISCO Futurewise Careers Progress Interviews (Late November)
  • UCAS Clinics. Careers Interviews.
  • Visits from former students.
