A level: age 17 - 18

Students progressing into the Sixth Form follow a rigorous schedule and expectations of success are high. We offer a variety of subjects to A Level which lead to Higher Education possibilities worldwide. The courses are all designed for specialists, and are therefore, excellent preparation for the demands of the most prestigious universities.

Sixth Form students are expected to be well-organised and determined to succeed. Independent study habits are extremely important and students must be prepared to carry out their own background reading to supplement and extend their knowledge of what is being covered in the classroom.

Our Sixth Form students have a dedicated study facility as well, of course, as access to all specialist areas of the school. They are encouraged to use their non-contact time as productively as possible.

In the Sixth Form each student is assigned to a Tutor Group where his/her academic and social development will be closely monitored and recorded. The Tutor liaises between students, subject teachers and parents and should be the first port of call when academic or pastoral matters need attention. Each year, our assessment procedures will allow progress to be followed, and will give the students regular feedback on their own performance. At these times, with help and guidance from parents and tutor, students are encouraged to set themselves realistic targets for their future performance, as well as to think of ways in which to achieve them.

Sixth Form students are also supported by the Sixth Form Study Coordinator, the Head of Careers and the Head of Sixth Form. The entire team works to ensure that all aspects of the students’ career at the BSP lead to the post-Sixth Form destination best suited to each student. Our students have regularly gained places at prestigious universities both in the UK and abroad and we are extremely proud of their achievements.

In the Sixth Form, the Learning Support Department aims to provide a personalised programme for all pupils with Special Educational Needs to aid their inclusion in academic courses.

Not all students are able to directly access the curriculum but accommodations can be made and special arrangements for examinations are possible within the guidelines laid down by the Joint Qualifications Council. Our aim is to enable the students to achieve their personal best through developing different learning styles and by reinforcing belief in themselves that they can succeed in achieving something of value.

We are also fortunate in the Paris area to have access to the SPRINT organization which is an English speaking Anglo-American network of medical practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists and therapists who are available for family or individual consultations if necessary.
